Questions Long Beach Homeowners Ask Us Before They Call

Common questions about garage door repair in Long Beach, from older torsion spring setups in 1960s houses to service across.

Why is my garage door spring replacement taking longer than expected?

If your house is one of the many in Long Beach built in the 1960s or 70s, the torsion spring on your door may be a size that's no longer a common stock item. When that happens we have to source it, which can push a same-day job to a day or two out. We'll tell you up front if that's the situation rather than make you wait and wonder.

Do you work outside Long Beach itself?

Yes. Along with Long Beach neighborhoods like and the we take calls from Signal Hill, Lakewood, Seal Beach, Carson, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Cerritos, Paramount, and other nearby cities within roughly a 10 to 12 mile stretch. Call and mention your area so we can give you a realistic sense of timing.

My opener runs but the door won't move - is that a spring or the opener?

Usually that points to the spring, not the opener. If the spring has lost tension or broken, the opener motor can still run the gear but doesn't have the strength to lift the door's weight alone. We'd need to see it to confirm, but that's the most common cause we run into on this type of call.

Do you install new garage doors or just repair them?

We do both - panel and full door replacement on sectional doors, plus opener installs, alongside spring, cable, track, and roller repair. We don't do the surrounding structural carpentry, like header or framing work, so if the door issue turns out to be a structural one, we'll let you know that's outside our scope.

How do I reach you directly instead of leaving a message?

Call 1-562-581-7908. That's the number that reaches us, and if we don't pick up right away, leave your name, number, and a short description of the problem. We're located at 249 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90802 if you'd rather stop by.

What We Will Not Do

We don't quote a price over the phone for a job we haven't looked at, and we won't tell you a spring or opener is fine when it isn't - or the other way around, talk you into a new door when a $40 part would've done it. Long Beach has a lot of housing from the 1960s and 70s (most of the stock across the area's 58 named neighborhoods dates to that stretch, with the median build year sitting around 1964), and original hardware on those doors often means parts and spring sizes that don't match what's on the shelf at a big box store. We won't force a universal bracket onto a track it wasn't built for just to close the ticket faster.

We also don't do new construction or full structural framing work - we work on the door, the opener, the track, the spring and cable system, and the panels themselves, not the surrounding carpentry. If your garage door problem turns out to be a bowed header or a settling slab, we'll tell you that's outside what we handle rather than take the job anyway. And we don't push insurance claims or warranty terms we can't back up on the spot - if we can't confirm it, we won't say it.

Contacting Us

  1. Call 1-562-581-7908

We're based at 249 E Ocean Blvd, Long Beach, CA 90802, and that's also where you can reach us if you'd rather stop by than call. Have the make of your opener handy if you know it, and a rough sense of what's wrong - door won't open, door is off track, spring snapped, opener runs but the door doesn't move - it speeds up the call. If you're in the say so when you call; it helps us figure out roughly how far out you are.

  2. We also get calls from homeowners in Signal Hill, Lakewood, Seal Beach, Carson, Los Alamitos, Cypress, Paramount, and Cerritos

All within about a 10-mile radius of our address - along with the areas a bit further out toward Torrance and Rancho Palos Verdes. We don't have an answering service that can diagnose anything, so if it's not us on the line, leave a number and a short description and we'll call back.

What We Actually Do

Spring replacement - torsion and extension - cable repair, roller and track work, panel replacement on sectional doors, opener install and repair, and general adjustment when a door is noisy, slow, or off balance. A lot of our calls in this area involve older torsion setups on houses built in the 1960s, since a good share of the housing stock here goes back to that decade, with some homes dating as far back as 1947 and others as recent as the early 2010s. Older hardware isn't a problem by itself, but it does mean we sometimes need to source a spring size or drum that isn't common anymore, and that can add a day or two to a repair instead of same-visit.

The mild coastal climate here means we're not dealing with the extreme temperature swings that crack seals or warp wood panels the way harsher climates do, so most of what brings people in is wear - worn rollers, fatigued springs, cables fraying at the drum, openers reaching the end of their gear life. We work on steel, aluminum, and wood doors. We service both owner-occupied homes and rentals, which covers a good portion of the roughly 257,000 owner-occupied houses across this service area.

We don't install gates, fences, or awnings, even though people sometimes ask.

Who You Are Dealing With

  1. We're a garage door repair company working out of 249 E Ocean Blvd in Long Beach

We don't have a long company history to recite, and we're not going to invent one - what matters more is what we work on and where.

  2. We cover Long Beach itself plus the nearby cities and neighborhoods within roughly a 10 to 12 mile stretch

Signal Hill, Rossmoor, Lakewood, Seal Beach, Carson, Los Alamitos, Hawaiian Gardens, Artesia, Bellflower, Cypress, Paramount, Cerritos, Compton, Lomita, La Palma, Norwalk, Lynwood, Stanton, Westminster, Buena Park, Gardena, Torrance, South Gate, and Rancho Palos Verdes, along with the closer-in Long Beach neighborhoods like and the.

  3. This is a solidly middle-to-upper-income service area

Median household income runs around $85,000 - and across roughly 752,000 households, a good number of garage doors we see are original or close to it, especially in the older pockets. We show up, look at the actual door in front of us, and tell you straight what it needs.
